How We Build Safe Playground Surfaces

From site preparation to final turf installation, our process focuses on drainage, stability, and long-term durability to create a safer, low-maintenance play environment.

Site Preparation

We remove existing mulch or gravel and define the perimeter with a secure nail border to contain the new surface and create clean edges.

Drainage System

We install a perimeter pipe drainage system and properly slope the area to help prevent standing water. A permeable washed limestone base is used to promote efficient water flow.

Foundation & Base Construction

The area is filled with several inches of compacted washed limestone and carefully leveled to create a stable, long-lasting foundation.

Shock-Absorbing Padding

Safety pads are installed beneath the turf in alternating directions for added stability. When paired with certified turf systems, the padding is designed to meet fall protection standards appropriate for playground equipment height.

Turf Installation

High-quality synthetic turf is installed and precisely fitted around playground poles and structures. In high-traffic areas such as under swings and slides, reinforcement techniques are used to help reduce wear over time.
